Equipment
Ships and Fighters
General Tobias Molcon, former teacher for tactical basics at the Imperial Academy once mentioned: "If it flies and has a red emblem on the side, it's a Rebel ship, if not, it's a Rebel ground vehicle." What the General wanted to say was, not even the Republican Command knows, what half of the pilots are fliing. There are several typical New Republican fighters like: X-Wing, Y-Wing, A-Wing, B-Wing and the Z95 Headhunter. In the 5th fleet are also SFS Fighter types used like the TIE Fighter, the TIE Interceptor, the TIE Bomber, the TIE Advanced as well as a more exotic types. The Republic uses a lot of ships the Old Republic and the Empire used too, like Nebulon-B and Lancer Frigates, Corellian Corvettes and Dreadnaughts. They also use an amount of Mon Calamarian Capitol Ships and several ships of the Imperial Stardestroyer series.
Ground Vehicles
The Republic has a lot of different vehicles, they captured and bought almost everything that is moving, But the Republic concentrates the major production on shielded repulsor-tanks. Most people think the 5th is equipped with Imperial walkers like AT-AT and AT-ST, but the former Imperial 5th fleet lost 80% of their ground vehicles in the Borvany Assault. Grand Admiral Simon later replaced them with cheaper AATs and the fleet is still equipped with theese tanks.
War Droids
The Republic don't favors War Droids. Exept of the 5th fleet military units of the New Republic just have minor numbers of theese droids. The 5th fleet has a high amount of old Trade Federation Battle Droids as well as a few Darktroopers. The 5th Fleet also owns several divisions of Imperial War Droids, but theese droids are waiting deactivated in underground storerooms on Delasol for more than 2 years.
Hand Weapons
The Republican units are usually equipped with Blaster Rifles and Pistols. The Republic is using different types of Blaster Rifles, but almost all of the are equal in range, size, fire-rate and strengh. Ground forces of "The Fallen" usually use the B118 Storm Blaster, an Imperial assault weapon used by the Imperial Special Forces untill 2 years after the Battle of Endor. Later great parts of the Imperial ground forces began to use the Storm Blaster too. It's much bigger then the ordinary Blaster Rifle, has twice the fire rate and five times the strengh. The Republican government don't likes the usage of these weapons, but the war with the Imperial warlords is still going on, so the senat has postphoned the decision to ban the Storm Blaster out of it's units.
