RPG Rules

RPG Basics

Game Masters Decision (B1)
The Game Master tells the story. If he/she sais you cannot do an action on Coruscant cause you are on Yarvin 4, this counts. You may discuss it with the Game Master, but he/she has the final decision on it. The game master can also remand players for misbehavior or remove them completely from a Run On or RPG.

Playing your Character (B2)
In a RPG you just play the actions of your asigned character, the reactions of other characters and npcs on your actions are decided by other players or the Game Master. In a Run On you can also write the reactions of characters and NPCs and you have a limited used of NPCs not interfering with your character. But your focus has to stay on your character and if you write about characters of other players or NPCs, write it like the other player or Game Master would have writen it and don't misuse other characters in your post.

Realism (B3)
If your character flies a Y-Wing don't let him challenge a TIE Avenger or an entire squadron of opponents on his own. Sure your character is a superior pilot, but usually the empire doesn't asign the greenhorns to the TIE Avengers. So keep realistic with the actions of your character and don't play in god mode, even if you are a Jedi Master. Ever expect that your opponent will do everything to survive too, especially when your challenging more that one opponent.

5th Fleet Additions

This additions are thought for the normal 5th Fleet Run On or RPG. They count for each Run On or RPG in case the Game Master or creator of the Run On didn't decide otherwise. It's absolutly possible that a RPG starts where everone plays a famous star wars character, or a Run On that plays in the past or in the future. There are surely a lot of possibilities where some or all of the rules below don't count.

Start (F1)
The Fleet startes with the equipment the fleet has at the moment of the begin of the RPG or Run On with the ships and fighters that are currently asigned at that moment. Characters start with the rank/ position/ sub group rank or position, the player has at the time of the begin of the RPG or Run On.

New Characters (F1.1)
A character that joins in the middle of a RPG or Run On can use the rank he currently has if the character hasn't been mentioned before. Same counts for the position, in case the position exsits and there is no other Character or NPC that holds the position in the RPG or Run On.

Changings in the fleet (F2)
A Run On or RPG runs independently from other RPGs or Run Ons or the general fleet development. If a squadron gets a new fighter or an officer gets promoted in the fleet that don't means the that the officer is promoted in the RPG or Run On too. The officers stays in his old rank and the Squadron stays with its old fighter. The Game Master can implement events where such informations get updated, like a ceremony in a Run On where characters get promoted, or a ship docks at a major space port where the fighters of a squadron gets exchanged. On the other hand players can play their character as a troublemaker that gets arrested or demoted in the RPG, that don't has influence of the fleet rank as long as he don't disturbs other players with that. And even if he distubs other players, he will usually be removed from from an RPG or Run On, without consequences on rank or position.

Cantina Threads (F3)
F1, F1.1, F2 don't count for "cantina" like threads, in a cantina thread the equipment is identical to the current fleet equipment and characters have their actual ranks. For example an officer who got adressed as Lieutenant in the previous post of the cantina thread, can refer to himself as Lieutenant Commander in the answer-post in case he got promoted to that rank before he writes the post.

Concentrating on special Aspects (F4)
Members of the Order of Jedi surely can concentrate on playing a Jedi in an RPG instead of being a pilot, members of the Research and Development can concentrate on being a scientist, members of the Diplomatic Corps can concentrate on being Ambassadors. They still have their military identity and can be adressed by rank, but the don't nessisarily need to fly fighters. In higher positions thats different. If a spaceship is in combat and the carrier captain takes part in the RPG or Run On, the place of his caracter is on the bridge of the ship.

Signatures in Run Ons (F5)
The leading Game Master of a Run On can request that the signatures get disabeled in a Run On thread. (not the OOC thread)
