Squadron

The squadron is the basic unit in the 5th fleet. Each cadet that graduates from the Academy gets asigned to a squadron first. A squadron consists of 12 pilots, each of them equipped with the same fighter type. The squadron is lead by the Squadron Commander, assisted by the Vice Squadron Commander. In the 5th fleet squadrons are usually fix asigned to specific carrier ships or similar installations. The squadron is ever asigned completely to a specific ship, not split up on different ships.

Flight Groups
Different to many other fleets flight groups in the 5th fleet consist of 3 pilots, the Flight Leader, the first Flight Member and the second Flight Member. The Flight Leader commanders this formation of 3 fighters or bombers.

Carrier Group

A carrier group consists of a carrier ship and a few escort ships. Squadrons and Personnel are ever asigned to the carrier ship, not to the escort ships. The Carrier Captain commands the ship.

Wings
Wings consist of 4 to 8 squadrons. A wing is led by a Wing Commander that has additionally some authorities for the entire carrier. A wing is ever completely asigned to a single ship, it cant be spead over multiple ships. Sips with less the 4 squadrons capacity can't have a wing. Ships with more then 7 squadrons may have multiple wings, in case the ship type is concepted to have more then one wing. If a ship has more then one wing, all wings have usually the same number of squadrons, so a ship with 10 squadrons has two wings with 5 squadrons in each.

Battle Group

A Battle group consists of several Carrier Groups. The Group Commander commands a Battle Group. Technically the Battle Group is a fleet in size of ships and personnel. A unit of 4 or 5 Carrier Groups can easily be seen as fleet. But large fleets like the main Imperial fleets, what the 5th fleet surely has been in the past, consist of smaller units in fleet size, called Battle Groups. A Battle Group ever has an own flagship.

Fleet

The fleet can consist of several Battle Groups as well as Carrier Groups that aren't asigned to Battle Groups. The Fleet is led by the Fleet Command staff. The fleet has a flagship, if the flagship is part of a Battle Group, it need to be flagship of the Battlegroups as well.
