Naval Uniform Code

For different issues usually different uniforms are worn. The empire had a clear uniform code, but the Alliance knew several different uniform codes.
The New Republic still has no strict uniform code so the Uniforms are variing pretty much from unit to unit.
Nevertheless the are 3 Classes of Uniforms, Class A to Class C. This classifications surely just count for uniforms, not vacuum suits or battlearmors or something like that.
Class A is also called Ceremonial Uniform and is only worn in the most formal issues. The Ceremonial Uniform is easy to identify cause of the full medals. Class B is the Dress or Service Uniform. Just the medal ribbons are worn on this uniform. Class C finally if the Flied Uniform, but that don't means that the uniform is worn on the battlefield. The Field uniform can be indentified cause of the missing of the medals. If the commander don't orders the usage of Class C or Class B uniforms you often see them mixed, while Class A uniforms are pretty restricted to ceremonial issues.

Republican Ceremonial Uniform
The Ceremonial Uniform is usually a white colored uniform with optionally gold buttons and red, blue or yellow stripes or trousers of skirts. Human male officers have to wear trousers, human female usually officers wear skirts. In the 5th trousers and skirts are white colored, but several officers in other fleets officers wear black or red ones too. Officers in a ranking of Commodore or Brigadier General and above wear two red stripes. The Ranking Emblem for officers consists of a grey or silver square with blue and red dots on it, worn on the left side of the uniform. Belts, boots and shoes are usually are usually black or dark brown, while the belt-buckle is silver or golden with a Republican emblem on it. The Republican Navy Headquarters didn't give out a strikt order how a ceremonial uniform should look like, so a couple of uniforms are a bit different from the usual style. Navies of members of the New Republic (like the Mon Calamarien Navy) have their own Ceremonial uniform style, sometimes theese uniforms are really different from the New Republican one.

Alliance Pilot Corps (X-W/XWA)
To be true, the New Republic doesn't have an official Dress Uniform nor the money to equip its fleets with enough uniforms of a single style. The personal of the 5th fleet is wearing generally the green uniform of the former Alliance Pilot Corps. The uniform consists of a green uniform jacket with green trousers or a green skirt, optional equipped with golden or silver buttons. The trousers or skirts sometimes have black stripes on the sides. The ranking emblem is added on the shoulders. Pilot Wings are worn on the left side. The medals get placed below the pilot wings and the unit emblems below the medals. Belt, shoes and boots are black or dark brown. Instead of the full medals just the ribbons are worn.

Imperial Veterans
The majority of the 5th fleet is still wearing Imperial Uniforms with Republican emblems on the left arm, cause most of the 5th fleet officers are veterans of the empire. Some units are still equipped with imperial equipment and those are usually still structured in the Old Republican/Imperial style. Officers asigned to theese units have to wear this Imperial Style uniform. Like Comodore Kowarn mentined: "If I want to see ppl in many different colors, I will watch clowns in a circus. Navy officers asigned to a ship should wear a single uniform style, so they can be identified by others." Uniforms of the emperor's elite divisions like Stormtroopers aren't worn anymore. Those units were special indoctrinaed so that a minor percentage of those soldiers and officers turned to the New Republic. Those who changed the sides wear grey Imperial uniforms. Officers with the rankings Comodore or Brigadier General and higher sometimes wear red triangles and diamonds on the right side of their collar, depending on the ranking they have. But there are a couple of other collar icons used too. The ranking emblem is a metal square with smaller yellow, orange, red, blue and green squares on it. Squares in other colors are unusual but not impossible.
